entitled: "Lipids: Wettability and electrokinetic properties" organized by the Department of Physical Chemistry, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland. This Course will include lectures and lab work on biological model membranes composition and methods for their characterisation, practical use of the IR spectroscopy and methods for measuring the electrokinetic properties and stability of dispersed systems.

This school includes talks and lectures on practical use of surfactants, Sum Frequency Generation Spectroscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy.

This course aims at presentation of fundamentals and industrial applications of wetting phenomena to engineers and researchers in chemical, mechanical, pharmaceutical, environmental and food engineering. The fundamentals of interface physics and wetting phenomena are addressed in the first day of the course, together with the methods of theoretical and numerical description of wetting. The second day is devoted to techniques for preparation of surfaces and characterization of interfaces. On the third day the complex wetting phenomena will be presented, involving complex surfaces (soft, textured, coated…) and complex liquids (surfactant solutions). The last day is devoted to typical industrial applications relying on the wetting phenomena. The program foresees intensive discussions between the participants and the lecturers and also among the participants. The aim is to address on-going development and application problems suggested by the participants. Industrial exhibitors of wetting and spreading diagnostics will be available on the second day for demonstrations and discussions.

A Summer School on flows, instability and Marangoni effects organized by the Instituto Pluridisciplinar, Complutense University, Madrid, Spain. This School will include lectures on flows, instabilities, Marangoni effects and contact angle hysteresis, wetting and spreading on complex substrates, drops under high frequency perturbations, capillary waves and interfacial rheology.
