Interaction of foams with a porous support
Develop a new theory of interaction of foams with porous substrates. Determine the conditions providing the absorption of desired amounts of solute from foam in a contact with a porous substrate to the pores. The results of this WP are directly applicable to industrial process. This WP will be performed in collaboration with Procter & Gamble.
Originality and innovative aspects: The originality of this WP is in quantification of effect of the properties of the foam and substrate and of the conditions on every stage of this complex fluid-solid interaction: foam application, shearing and drainage, capillary suction, diffusion.
Methodologies: Analytical and numerical (Finite Elements Method) modelling methods will be used. Rheometry, optical methods, confocal microscopy and FTIR spectrometry will be used. An ER hired in this WP will have an expertise in one or more of the techniques. The training program will include visits and secondments at Procter & Gamble to discuss the results, foster the knowledge transfer and to establish a long-term cooperation
